Cost

Cost explores the cost of time spent across countries, examining how light becomes a marker of place and accumulated experience. Developed through three years of living in Mexico City, the series responds to the city's distinctive atmospheric light, where haze and suspended particles soften, diffuse and transform the visibility of the surrounding environment. The works investigate how particular images trigger nostalgia, and how the experience of a place becomes compressed into fragments of colour, form and memory. Atmospheric, translucent imagery is interrupted by abrasive symbols and vivid colours, disrupting the act of looking while condensing information into immediate visual gestures. Moving between absorption and interruption, the series considers what is retained, altered or lost through time spent away from elsewhere.
